PrintGlo fluorescent magnetic fingerprint powder has such unique properties that it can also be used as a conventional black magnetic fingerprint powder in many applications. Once latent fingerprints are processed with a magnetic wand, the ridge characteristics appear almost black in color, and are easily liftable with fingerprint tape or lifters (not gritty like some magnetic powders). If the surface is not smooth, or the latent print appears too faint to lift, the processed print can then be enhanced with the aid of a high intensity UV light (print fluoresces a bright yellow-green). If an alternate light source is used (in the blue light region, 440 to 490nm), the print will fluoresce a bright orange color. If a laser is used, the print can fluoresce a bright red color (532nm). The enhanced print can then be easily photographed in black and white or color. PrintGlo also has infrared absorbing properties, and it may be photographed using infrared if the processed print still does not exhibit sufficient ridge detail.
